Veerasami Venkatesan is a highly accomplished railway engineering professional and technical trainer with over three decades of experience in the Indian Railways. Currently serving as Senior Section Engineer (Coaching & Wagons) at the office of the Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer (PCME), Southern Railway, he has made significant contributions to coach maintenance, inspection standards, and technical training.
Dr. Venkatesan holds a distinguished educational background with a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (DME), AMIE, Master of Computer Applications (MCA), and a Ph.D. He is also a Chartered Engineer recognized by the Institution of Engineers (India) and an active committee member of the IEI Thiruvallur Local Centre.
He began his career in 1989 and joined Southern Railway in 1994 as a Junior Engineer. Over the years, he has worked in various critical areas including platform coach handling, maintenance yards, MIS, and ISO core teams. He has played an instrumental role in the ISO 9001:2000 certification of the BBQ depot and the Chennai–Mysore Shatabdi Express.
